Barbara Boxer is on the environmental issues
No sooner was she back in office than the Senator from California unleashed a barrage against the Republican environmental plan. On Thursday Boxer unloaded both barrels on House Republicans’ plans to stall climate-change regulations, slipping seamlessly into her role as a pit bull against the GOP.
Boxer showed everyone that she was ready to fight it out with Republicans over the next four years and would not relent on issues that she sees as a priority for the country.
“If anyone in Congress tries to move to a dirty-air policy, I will take them straight to the American people and do everything in my power to stop them,” Boxer, a Democrat, pledged at a news conference.
The Democratic environmental policy suffered a set-back as the party took a beating during the midterm elections. However, the environment is still a hot-button issue and has drawn much attention in the last decade with everything from documentaries made by former vice-presidents, to celebrity directors flying to the Alberta oil sands to see what it looks like.
The message has been heard from many sources that individual change and “going green“, is what is needed for a real impact to be felt on the climate. With enthusiasts like Barbara Boxer in the Senate, the American people can be assured that this issue will not go away quickly and that Republicans who think they can avoid it, will get an earful.
